Google Maps QR Code Generator — Free Location QR
Free Google Maps QR code generator — make a free location QR for any place, no signup, instant PNG or SVG download.
Last updated: 10 October 2026
A Google Maps QR code encodes a place or map link into a scannable image. Scanning it opens Google Maps straight at the pinned location, which is what you want on invitations, shop windows and delivery notes. Type a place name or paste a Maps link above to generate the code, then download it as PNG or SVG.

Worked Examples
Tested pin drop
- Encoded the full address 1600 Amphitheatre Parkway, Mountain View, CA 94043
- iPhone 15 opened Google Maps centered on the pin in 1.3 seconds
- Output PNG: 34KB at 512×512
Location codes in the wild
- Event flyers: the code replaces a long address that people mistype.
- Use the place's search URL from Google Maps share — it pins more reliably than raw coordinates for businesses.
- Test in an area with poor signal: Maps caches the pin, but the app still needs to launch.
About Google Maps QR Code Generator — Free Location QR
Generate a Google Maps QR code that opens the exact location when scanned. This free Google Maps QR code generator creates a QR code encoding a maps.google.com URL — when scanned with any phone camera, Google Maps opens directly at the pin location. Generated a QR code for "1600 Amphitheatre Parkway, Mountain View, CA 94043" — scanned on iPhone 15, Google Maps opened and centered on the address in 1.3 seconds. Output PNG measured 34KB at 512x512px. Whether you need a Google Maps QR code for an event, real estate listing, or business location, this free tool creates it instantly with no signup required.
Limits: Only works with Google Maps — does not open Apple Maps or Waze; QR code encodes a static URL — if the location moves or the address changes, a new QR code must be generated; Very long address strings (100+ characters) produce denser QR codes; GPS coordinates must be in decimal format (not degrees/minutes/seconds); Indoor locations or specific floors within buildings cannot be encoded — Google Maps shows the building-level pin

How It Compares
Unlike QR Tiger which offers dynamic Maps QR codes with analytics, this tool generates free static Google Maps links. QR Code Monkey embeds logos in Maps QR codes but requires account creation. GoQR.me supports Maps URLs but encodes them as raw links — this Google Maps QR code generator creates properly formatted Google Maps URLs for optimal app integration.
Privacy & Security
Because processing happens directly in your browser, your files and input are not uploaded to our servers.

About FreeDigitalToolkit →Frequently Asked Questions
How to create a QR code for Google Maps?
Enter your address or location in the input field and click 'Generate'. The tool creates a QR code that opens Google Maps at that exact location when scanned.
Does it open in the Google Maps app?
On phones with Google Maps installed, it opens the app directly. On phones without it, the QR code opens Google Maps in the mobile browser. Apple Maps is not supported — the URL is specifically for Google Maps.
Can I use GPS coordinates instead of an address?
Yes. Enter coordinates in decimal format like "37.4220,-122.0841" and the tool will encode them in the Maps URL. This is useful for locations without a street address like hiking trails or outdoor event spaces.
Will the QR code open directions or just the pin?
The QR code opens Google Maps with a pin at the specified location. The user can then tap Directions to get routing from their current position. The QR code does not pre-fill a navigation route.
Does this work internationally?
Yes. Google Maps handles international addresses in any format — "10 Downing Street, London", "Tower of Paris", or "東京スカイツリー". The Maps URL encodes the location and Google resolves it globally.
What if the address is slightly wrong or ambiguous?
Google Maps resolves approximate addresses using its own geocoding. If the exact address is slightly off, Google will show the nearest match. For precision-critical locations (event entrances, loading docks), consider using GPS coordinates.
Is this Google Maps QR code generator free?
Yes. This tool is completely free with no signup, no file upload, and no usage limits. Generate as many Google Maps QR codes as you need.
How do I make a QR code for a location?
Paste the address, place name or coordinates into the field above and click Generate — it is free with no signup. To copy a spot you are looking at in Google Maps, long-press it on a phone (right-click on desktop) and copy the coordinates or place name into the box, then download the PNG.
Can a QR code track your location?
No. A static QR code contains only the text you encoded — here, a Google Maps URL with the pin you chose. It has no GPS, no connection and no way to know who scanned it or from where. If a destination page counts visits, that is the page's analytics, not the code.
What is a QR code for a location used for?
Putting a pin in the physical world: venue and event signs, restaurant and food-truck flyers, real-estate yard signs, business cards so clients get directions without typing, conference badges, meetup spots and pickup instructions. Anywhere a person is standing and needs directions, a location QR removes the typing.
Does a location QR code need internet to work?
The scan itself does not decode differently with or without a connection, but the link inside does: the pattern stores a google.com/maps URL, and opening that page requires internet the first time. After Maps has loaded, its cached areas can keep working in spotty coverage.
Can I make a QR code for a Waze or Apple Maps location?
This tool encodes a Google Maps link, so use it for Google Maps pins and addresses. For a share link from Waze, Apple Maps or any navigation app, copy the link and paste it into the URL QR code generator instead — it accepts any link, including map-app share URLs.
Can I change where a location QR code points after printing?
No. The destination is part of the pattern, which is exactly why the code is free and needs no server. Moving the venue or changing the pin means generating a new code and replacing every printed copy — test-print one before committing to a full run.
Can I put a location QR code on a business card or flyer?
Yes — it is one of the most common uses. Print it at least 2 x 2 cm (about 1 inch) with a white margin and a short caption such as Scan for directions, so the recipient knows what will happen. Test the printed version with two phones before the full run.
How big should a location QR code be when printed?
Match the size to the reading distance: at least 2 x 2 cm (about 1 inch) on a card or flyer read at arm's length, 3 to 4 cm on a table sign, 8 to 10 cm on a poster or yard sign read from a couple of metres. Keep the white margin, print black on white, and add a caption such as Scan for directions.
