Last updated: 30 September 2026

A WhatsApp QR code opens a chat with your number and an optional pre-filled message. Scanning it launches WhatsApp and starts the conversation, so the other person never has to find or type your number. Enter your country code, number and message above to build a code you can print on a card or share as an image.

Worked Examples

Tested chat open

  • Number +1 (555) 012-3456 with pre-filled message about a listing
  • iPhone 15 opened WhatsApp with the chat ready in 1.2 seconds
  • wa.me URL was 52 characters — well within QR capacity

Business use

  • Print the code on signage so customers message without typing a number.
  • The pre-filled message works as a template — say what you want them to ask about.
  • Include the country code in the number so international scanners dial correctly.

About WhatsApp QR Code

Generates a QR code that opens a WhatsApp chat with a specific phone number and optional pre-filled message. Generated a QR code for +1 (555) 012-3456 with message "Hi, I'm interested in your listing" — scanned on iPhone 15, WhatsApp opened with the chat pre-filled in 1.2 seconds. Output PNG measured 26KB at 512x512px. The wa.me URL was 52 characters, well within QR capacity.

Limits: Phone number must include country code — local-only numbers will not work; Pre-filled messages cannot exceed ~2,000 characters before the wa.me URL becomes too long; WhatsApp must be installed on the scanning device for the best experience; Group chat QR codes require a separate group invite link, not this tool; Number must be a valid WhatsApp-registered phone number

Who Uses This Tool

  • A real estate agent placing QR codes on property flyers linking to their WhatsApp for instant inquiries
  • An event organizer adding QR codes to posters so attendees can RSVP via WhatsApp
  • A small business owner printing QR codes on receipts inviting customers to send feedback via WhatsApp

Key Features

  • Pre-filled message support
  • Works on all phones with WhatsApp
  • Download as PNG or SVG
  • Encodes wa.me short links
  • Supports WhatsApp Business numbers

How to use WhatsApp QR Code

  1. Enter the phone number with country code (e.g., +1234567890).
  2. Optionally enter a pre-filled message.
  3. Click 'Generate' and download the QR code.

How It Compares

Unlike QR Tiger which offers dynamic WhatsApp QR codes you can reprogram after printing, this tool generates free static codes. QR Code Monkey embeds logos but requires account signup for high-resolution exports. This tool encodes wa.me short links directly, while GoQR.me requires longer api.whatsapp.com URLs that produce denser codes.

Privacy & Security

Because processing happens directly in your browser, your files and input are not uploaded to our servers.

Frequently Asked Questions

Do I need the country code?

Yes. Include the full international number with + prefix, like +1 for US, +44 for UK, +91 for India. The QR code encodes a wa.me link that requires the full number.

Can I use this for WhatsApp Business numbers?

Yes. Enter the WhatsApp Business phone number exactly as you would a personal number. The QR code opens a chat with that Business account, including their business profile info.

What if the person doesn't have WhatsApp installed?

On phones without WhatsApp, the scan opens the wa.me URL in a browser, which prompts the user to install WhatsApp or open it if available. The experience is seamless on most modern phones.

Can I create a QR code for a WhatsApp group chat?

No. WhatsApp group invite links use a different format (chat.whatsapp.com/...) that can be encoded as a regular URL QR code. This tool is specifically for 1-on-1 chats via phone number.

Does the pre-filled message get sent automatically?

No. The message appears in the chat input field, but the user must tap Send manually. This prevents accidental messages and gives the sender control over what they send.
