How It Compares
Unlike TextFixer's character counter which requires page reloads and shows ads, this tool updates in real-time as you type, with no sign-up and nothing stored on a server. CharacterCount.net offers similar functionality but stores your text on their servers — this tool processes everything locally in your browser.
Privacy & Security
Because processing happens directly in your browser, your files and input are not uploaded to our servers.

About FreeDigitalToolkit →Frequently Asked Questions
Why do I need character count without spaces?
Many platforms (Twitter, meta descriptions, URLs) count characters differently. Some exclude spaces. Meta descriptions, for example, typically count all characters including spaces.
Does this count emojis as one or two characters?
Emojis are counted as a single character, consistent with most modern platforms. However, some older systems may count multi-byte emojis differently.
How does this differ from the Word Counter?
The Word Counter shows word, sentence, and paragraph counts alongside characters. This tool focuses specifically on character-level detail including with/without spaces — essential for platforms with strict character limits.
Does it include line breaks in the count?
No. Line breaks are not included in the character count. Only visible characters and spaces are counted.
Can I use this for LinkedIn or Instagram captions?
Yes. LinkedIn allows 3,000 characters, Instagram allows 2,200. Paste your text here to verify you're within limits before posting.
