Working days are the Monday-to-Friday dates inside your range, minus any holidays you switch off. Enter a start and end date above and the calculator counts the weekdays, subtracts weekends, and can remove the ten US federal holidays too. A full calendar year gives 261 working days with weekends only, or 252 once the US holidays that fall on weekdays are excluded.

Checking the maths by hand
- Whole weeks first: 13 weeks × 5 weekdays = 65, then add the leftover weekdays in the partial week
- 1 Jul – 30 Sep 2026 is 92 days — 13 weeks plus one extra Wednesday, so 65 + 1 = 66
- Only holidays falling Monday to Friday are subtracted; 4 July 2026 is a Saturday, so it removes nothing

Calculate working days (business days) between two dates. Excludes weekends (Saturday and Sunday) and shows a breakdown of total days, working days, and weekend days. Supports US federal holidays as optional exclusions. Test data: January 1 to December 31, 2026 with weekends only returned 261 working days (52 weeks × 5 weekdays, plus the extra weekday the year starts on). Switching on all ten US federal holidays returned 252 — nine of those holidays fall on weekdays in 2026, while the fourth of July falls on a Saturday.

How do I count business days between two dates?
Count every date in the range, subtract the Saturdays and Sundays, then subtract any public holidays that fall inside it. The calculator above does all three steps and shows the breakdown.
Does it exclude public holidays?
There's an option to exclude US federal holidays (New Year's Day, MLK Day, Presidents Day, Memorial Day, Independence Day, Labor Day, Columbus Day, Veterans Day, Thanksgiving, Christmas). Enable the toggle to include them. Only the ones that fall on a weekday reduce the working-day count — Independence Day 2026 is a Saturday, so it removes nothing.
How many working days are in a year?
261 weekdays in a normal year — 52 weeks × 5 days, plus one extra weekday if the year starts or ends on a weekday. Excluding the US federal holidays that land on weekdays leaves 252 in 2026.
How many working days are in the USA in 2026?
261 with weekends only, or 252 after the nine US federal holidays that fall on a weekday. Independence Day (4 July 2026) is a Saturday, so it does not reduce the weekday count.

Does this count half-days or partial working days?
No. Each day is either counted as a full working day or a non-working day. Half-days, remote work days, or flexible schedules are not accounted for.
How many working days are left in 2026 from October?
From 15 October to 31 December 2026: 56 working days with weekends only, or 53 after Veterans Day, Thanksgiving and Christmas. That is 78 calendar days.
