Worked Examples
Verified discount
- $249.99 at 35% off → final price $162.49
- Savings: $87.50
- Percentages above 100 are rejected — a discount cannot exceed the price
Stacking deals
- Two discounts do not add: 30% then 20% equals 44% off, not 50%.
- Apply each percentage to the running price in sequence — the calculator handles one at a time.
- Compare the final price across stores, not the percentage — 35% off a higher price can still lose.

About FreeDigitalToolkit →Frequently Asked Questions
Can I calculate multiple discounts?
Currently you can enter one discount. For multiple discounts (e.g., 20% off then extra 10%), apply them sequentially — enter the first discounted price as the new original.
Does this work with any currency?
Yes. The calculator works with any currency. It does not apply currency symbols — just enter the number.
How do I calculate what percentage off something is?
If you know the original and sale price, divide the savings by the original price and multiply by 100. For example, $30 off $120 = 25% off.
Does it handle discounts over 100%?
Yes, though a discount over 100% would result in a negative price, which is mathematically valid but practically meaningless.
