A vCard QR code encodes contact information — name, phone, email, address, website — into a scannable code. When someone scans it, their phone automatically opens the 'Add Contact' screen with all your details pre-filled. No typing, no errors.

What a vCard Contains: The vCard format (version 3.0) supports: Full name (FN), Phone number (TEL), Email address (EMAIL), Organization/company (ORG), Job title (TITLE), Street address (ADR), Website URL (URL), and Notes. Our [vCard QR Generator](/qr-tools/vcard-qr) supports all of these fields.
What I Tested: I created a vCard QR code with the following details: Name: 'Sarah Johnson', Phone: '+44 7700 900100', Email: 'sarah@example.com', Company: 'Acme Corp', Title: 'Marketing Manager', Website: 'https://acme.com'.
• Scanned with iPhone 14: Opens Contacts app with all fields populated. User taps 'Create New Contact' to save.
• Scanned with Samsung Galaxy S23: Opens Contacts app. All fields correct. Email field was tappable directly from the contact card.
• The QR code was 290 bytes — very small. Prints clearly even at 1cm × 1cm size.
Step-by-Step: (1) Open the [vCard QR Code Generator](/qr-tools/vcard-qr). (2) Enter your first name and last name (required). (3) Enter phone number with country code. (4) Enter email address. (5) Optionally add company, title, address, and website. (6) Click Generate. (7) Download as PNG or SVG.
One Limitation: vCard QR codes contain plain text data. They are not encrypted. Anyone who scans or decodes the QR code can read all the information. Do not include sensitive details like home addresses if the QR code will be publicly displayed.
Common Mistake: Entering the phone number without the country code. International scanners may not be able to dial the number correctly. Always include the full international format: +1 for US, +44 for UK, +966 for Saudi Arabia, etc.
